Junior High School

The Junior High School is a journey between older-childhood and young-adulthood – between Primary School and the High School Senior College. Classes 8, 9 and 10 engage in an exciting and wide-ranging Steiner program that embraces and builds on the students’ learning in the primary school years and nurtures the students as they grow from being discerning thinkers in class 8 to being on the brink of heartfelt critical thinking in class 10.

The high school day is divided into three lesson times; Main Lesson (2 hours) Middle Lesson (1 ½ hours) and Block Lesson (1 ¼ hours).

Senior High School

The primary focus of Lorien Novalis School is a holistic Rudolf Steiner Education that does not attract an ATAR score, and graduates of Lorien Novlais School seek alternative pathways to Australian Universities.

The central aim of the Lorien Novalis Senior High School is to prepare class 11 and 12 students to step out into the world after school, imbued with self-knowledge, self-belief, and a sense of purpose to find their own path in life. Whether the student goes on to do further study, enter the workplace or take a gap year, our goal is to help prepare the young adult to take hold of their own future of infinite possibilities.

The Course of Study

The course of study in classes 11 and 12 is composed of:

  1. A pattern of study towards the HSC qualification and
  2. Additional Lorien Novalis components. 

At present Lorien Novalis Senior students study the following Preliminary subjects in class 11:

  • Advanced English 
  • General Mathematics
  • Philosophy 
  • Marine Studies
  • Sport Lifestyle & Recreation
  • Vocational Education & Training

At present Lorien Novalis Senior students study the following HSC subjects in class 12:

  • Advanced English 
  • Mathematics General 2
  • Philosophy 
  • Portfolio & Presentation
  • Vocational Education & Training

In addition the Lorien Novalis component comprises of the following subjects for classes 11 and 12:

  • Visual Art
  • Drama
  • Eurythmy
  • Major Works Project (from the end of class 11)
